On the design
A defunct textile mill reopened as shared maker studios, keeping the sawtooth roof and adding almost nothing but light.
The section was drawn before the plan. We began with the ground — its slope, its light, and the horizon it framed — and let the building settle into that reading rather than impose a shape on it.
A short material palette, detailed in the studio down to every junction, carries the whole scheme: board-marked concrete, oak, and glass, meeting without trim and left to age honestly.
