Stone Library

A municipal library carved into a hillside, its reading rooms stepping down toward the valley on a single unbroken oak stair.

The section was drawn before the plan. We began with the ground — its slope, its light, and the horizon it framed — and let the building settle into that reading rather than impose a shape on it.

A short material palette, detailed in the studio down to every junction, carries the whole scheme: board-marked concrete, oak, and glass, meeting without trim and left to age honestly.
